PDI Releases Rack Distribution Systems at Uptime Institute Symposium
RICHMOND, VA., April 28, 2008 – Power Distribution, Inc. (PDI), a leading manufacturer of mission critical distribution equipment for the data center market, today introduced the Rack Distribution System (RDS) product line at the Uptime Institute Symposium held in Orlando, Florida. This new product line continues to build upon PDI's 30 year tradition of innovation and represents an industry first combination of both modular and integrated rack distribution solutions for data center managers. The modular system can be field installed into existing server racks, and the custom integrated systems can be ordered, wired up, and shipped from the PDI factory.
Three distinctly custom products comprised the Rack Distribution System (RDS):
Modular Rack Distribution: PDI offers three modules to fit into any 19" server rack. These modules are; an enclosed panel board module with integrated current transformer (CT) strips, a Branch Circuit Monitoring System (BCMS) communication board with a local monitor, and a variety of prewired receptacles. These modules allow a data center manager to "plug and play" when adding power for servers. Installation can be by the customer, electrical contractor, or the PDI service team.
Rack Mounted Distribution: Two unique integrated systems are being offered in a 19" server rack cabinet; one system that mirrors the PDI RPP line and a system that mirrors the PDI PDU line in sizes ranging from 30 - 15 kva. These systems are built to order at the PDI factory and again offer the convenience of "plug and play" power distribution and transformation to a data center as servers are added.
