PDI Recognized by Frost and Sullivan
Palo Alto, Calif. — June 20, 2006 — Frost & Sullivan selected Power Distribution, Inc. (PDI) as the recipient of the 2006 Frost & Sullivan Award for Market Penetration Leadership in the rack mount power distribution unit (PDU) market. This Award recognizes the company’s entrepreneurial acumen in forming a strategic alliance with Wrightline, Inc. to facilitate its entry in the rack mount PDU market.
PDI is focusing on developing a strong brand name and innovative proprietary technologies as well as capturing a leading global market position. PDI has grown rapidly in industries such as financial institutions, banking and insurance, telecommunication, as well as the federal government.
PDI is a strong competitor in the non-rack mount PDU market and it has grown consistently. It is expected to continue to do so, riding mainly on the strategic alliances that PDI has formed with other notable market participants.
The strategic alliance between PDI and Wrightline will enable the company to use the existing sales offices and the distribution channel of Wrightline across the globe. Wrightline has a strong presence in the IT sector and PDI has been traditionally selling to facility managers. This alliance will help augment PDI's share in the North American as well as the global markets and enable it to offer both rack- and non-rack-based PDUs.
The company has also collaborated with several large original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) for marketing its PDU product line. These alliances have also led to PDI gaining access to the distribution channels of these OEM through which its PDUs can be marketed. PDI is also engaged in a number of brand-labeling agreements for its products.
"The company has been able to maintain its market dominance due to its high product quality, customer service management, competitive pricing, and brand recognition," says Frost & Sullivan Research Analyst Suba S. "Being a dominant participant, PDI continues to meet a broad range of customer requirements through a comprehensive product line that allows it to provide tailor-made solutions, rather than taking a generalized approach."
PDI aims to become a one-stop shop by extending its product line to include products from static transfer switches to PDUs. PDI is in a position to cross-sell and up-sell its complete line of products, which provides the company a ready-made market for its products.
PDI closely monitors all customer feedback, acts on suggestions, as well as incorporates requested features and benefits into its products and services. This customization has partnered the customers' needs with the PDI sales, manufacturing, and engineering team to create a solution-centric approach to product extensions.
"PDI's experienced as well as advanced production and test facilities provide high-quality products and solutions," notes Suba. "PDI also offers order inquiries and emergency assistance, technical and application product support, warranties, power protection programs, as well as service upgrades, which enable it to offer better customer relationship management, thereby increasing its market potential."
Each year Frost & Sullivan presents this Award to a company that has demonstrated excellence in capturing market share within its industry. The recipient has demonstrated strategic excellence in product innovation, marketing, and sales strategies that have resulted in the largest gain in market share over the last two to three years.
Frost & Sullivan Best Practices Awards recognize companies in a variety of regional and global markets for demonstrating outstanding achievement and superior performance in areas such as leadership, technological innovation, customer service, and strategic product development. Industry analysts compare market participants and measure performance through in-depth interviews, analysis, and extensive secondary research in order to identify best practices in the industry.
