Power Distribution, Inc. (PDI), was founded in 1978 as a Virginia corporation with corporate offices and a factory located in Richmond, VA. Since its inception, PDI has been committed to providing quality products to meet the demanding needs of our industry. PDI’s roots are in the computer power distribution and voltage regulation market. As this market has evolved and the need for quality power has grown, PDI has developed innovative solutions to meet the power quality needs of new technologies. Our patented harmonic cancellation systems and the UL listed static transfer switch are prime examples of our innovation.

At PDI, we support our customers with a wide array of services. Our Applications Engineering Department assists customers with the proper application of existing products and with custom features for unique applications. Our Customer Support Department provides a single point of contact at PDI for status on all orders as they progress through the manufacturing process. The Customer Service Department provides start-up, preventative and emergency maintenance, and operational training on all installed PDI products. Our nationwide service organization is on-call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to meet the needs of our customers.


PDI has a staff of application, design, manufacturing and research and development engineers with years of experience in the power industry. The organization prides itself on identifying and supporting customer needs with application specific products and systems. The capabilities of this staff and its products are extended to the field through a highly trained technical sales staff.


Quality Assurance at PDI is an ongoing process. As an order is manufactured, it goes through a five-step quality control program. The parts are inspected as they arrive from the vendors and when the sub-assembly is complete. After the assembly inspection, the unit is then checked before and after it enters the test area. On its way to the final assembly area, the unit is completely inspected to ensure that it complies with the requirements of the listing agency (i.e. UL, CSA, ETL, IEEE, etc.) and that it meets the customer’s specifications. All products are built and inspected for compliance to the applicable codes or standards (i.e. NEC, IEEE, NEMA, MIL-STD-462, etc.) for the appropriate product class. Only after passing all inspections is the unit prepared for shipping and delivery to the customer.
